Oy!, 2010. Performance and single-channel digital video (00:35:10 minutes).

Oy! is a durational performance in which I placed nearly fifty kippot on my head, one after another. Kippot is plural for kippah, a cap worn during Jewish religious ceremonies) I then sat still for a lengthy period of time holding the stack of caps on my head. This action gradually altered my posture due to the objects' weight, alluding to my personal experience as a Jewish descendant and the weight of inherited belief systems. The video shown here is one of three iterations of the work.

¡Oy! es una performance de larga duración en la que coloqué casi cincuenta kippot sobre mi cabeza, una tras otra. Kippot es plural para kipá, la gorra usualmente utilizado durante ceremonias religiosas judías. Luego permanecí inmóvil durante un largo período de tiempo, sosteniendo la pila de gorras. Esta acción alteró gradualmente mi postura debido al peso de los objetos, aludiendo a mi experiencia personal como descendiente de judíos y el peso recibido por sistemas de creencias heredados.
